ICOG: The Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture (ICOG is its Dutch acronym) is one of the three research institutes within the Faculty of Arts. ICOG is home to a wide range of disciplines, from History, the Arts, Literatures and Cultures, American Studies, and Media and Journalism Studies, to International Relations, Humanitarian Action and Area Studies. Beyond their distinct subject areas and approaches, these disciplines share their interest for culture as the practices through which, now as in the past, humans define and negotiate their values, organize their societies, manage diversity, and reflect on impactful changes.

 

 

 

KVNM: The Royal Society for Music History of The Netherlands (KVNM) was founded in Amsterdam on 19 November 1868 under the name Vereeniging voor Nederlandsche Muziekgeschiedenis (Society for Music History of The Netherlands). The desgnation ‘Koninklijk’ (Royal) was granted in 1994. The KVNM is the oldest musicological association in the world. The KVNM is The Netherlands’ professional association of musicologists and publishes scholarly works on music history of The Netherlands and the Low Countries such as the New Josquin Edition.

 

 

 

Studium Generale Groningen is an organisation of the University of Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, which organizes innovative and multidisciplinary activities in the domains of science, culture and society. The varied programme, including lectures, films, debates and more, is intended for a wide audience of students, lecturers and citizens from the city and province of Groningen.

 

 

Prins Claus Conservatoire: The Prins Claus Conservatory cultivates only the best and most talented young people within their programs with the same passion and ambition as their faculty of professional musicians, teachers and staff. In other words, they exhibit a passion for music in all of its significance – individually as performing musicians and more broadly for the world in which we live. They are also well known for auditioning the best young musicians from all over the world especially because of their “Young Talent Class” in the Bachelor or Master Programs.

 

 

 

De Academie voor Popcultuur is de enige hbo-instelling waar de opleiding Muziek en de opleiding Vormgeving zijn gecombineerd in een onderwijsprogramma. Popcultuur is niet gebonden aan een plaats of cultuur maar bij uitstek internationaal en overal aanwezig. Popcultuur is om je heen: op straat, op tv, op internet, op een podium, in de spotlights, in een tijdschrift, op een poster of een flyer maar ook in een schuur, op een schutting of op een kistje in het park. Popcultuur is niet bescheiden maar brutaal, niet highbrow maar toegankelijk. Kortom: in your face.

 

 

Het Kenniscentrum Kunst & Samenleving van de Hanzehogeschool Groningen onderzoekt en ontwikkelt nieuwe artistieke praktijken in verbinding met uiteenlopende sectoren in de samenleving. Hiermee wordt de potentiële veranderkracht van de kunsten ingezet als een betekenisvolle en pro-actieve bijdrage van de kunsten aan behoeften die ontstaan vanuit een veranderende samenleving. Het kenniscentrum maakt kunstenaars en musici bewust van en laat hen reflecteren op de verschillende ondernemende, innovatieve en creatieve rollen die zij in deze context kunnen vervullen. Op deze wijze draagt het kenniscentrum bij aan een maatschappelijk betekenisvolle rol van de kunstenaars en musici evenals aan de doorontwikkeling van hun opleidingen en hun employability.
