Music Matters is the Lecture and Performance series of the Popular Music and Sonic Cultures Master’s degree program at the University of Groningen in the northern Netherlands.

This MA program accepts students from a variety of BA program backgrounds (Cultural Studies, Media Studies, Music Performance, Music Theory, Cultural Musicology, American Studies, Arts & Culture Studies, Sociology, European Languages and Cultures, etc.) that want to focus on Master’s level work on the study of music and culture. Students come together across disciplinary backgrounds to deepen their knowledge of music’s role in society and so no one type of previous training is necessary (ie. music theory, social science, etc.).
